There is nothing like doing a blog entry to make you finish up unfinished projects. I had a pretty productive week— between the crying, that is. Inez seems to have the mysterious “colic”, whatever that is. Anyway, we all know that babies are needy, so that isn’t anything new to tell you. And I hate to bore my two loyal readers by complaining about the obvious.
Anyway, I fired and glazed the house blessings today. These are sort of a variation on a Jewish tradition of extending blessings to all who enter your home, but I suppose blessing your house is sort of a universal. Here is what the text on a worded blessing might say:
May this home be blessed with peace and tranquility. May those who dwell within treasure goodness and generosity. May comfort and compassion embrace all who cross this threshold. May all who enter and all who depart enjoy good health and happiness.
Mine are more simple though. They just have one word, so you will have to make up the rest!
I’m trying to use up some random beads from my collection to decorate the hangers. A lot of them are pretty nice, but as I only have one of each, they don’t serve me well for making jewelry. I got a bunch of them at estate sales and garage sales anyway, so this is a pretty good use for them.
The other project I finished was this sweet needle felted fox:
This was actually from a Woolpets kit that we gave Francis for Christmas. The thought was that we could do this project together, but it turns out that “together” with a sharp needle and little pieces of wool to wind around a skewer means that I did most of it and Francis jabbed it a couple times with the needle. No matter. She was so thrilled with the fox when we were done, that it was all worth it. Needle felting is really fun and pretty easy. My first tries were all with directions in a kit, but now that I have done a few, I can created them without the kits. Check them out here:

I have much, much more to say about garbage cans and pecking orders, but as that has little or nothing to do with this post, I will save it for another day.
