Yeah, the store is a big hurdle in my life. Going to the store seems so impossible. It is ridiculous. Thank you for the sympathy! It makes me feel better. Get well, and if not well, pull out those tweezers. Between that and a good hand mirror, maybe you could pull something out of your head?

I just have a nasty head cold. Although if I could use tweezers to extract all the crap from my head, I just might. And we’re supposed to get MORE DAMN SNOW tomorrow so I have to go to the store today to restock the fridge ’cause I haven’t gone since last Thursday before I went on my trip to Virginia Beach. I don’t know how moms do it, because just going to the store seems like a HUGE inconvenience for me; having small children requiring things of me would just be SO not fun right now. Moms are amazing!

I hear you about needing a break! I can’t afford a trip to anywhere out of the country, but I did take a weekend to myself in the valley. How glorious that was! I felt single again, going out with friends til late at night. I also hear you about looking at the kids and saying to myself, “who are these people, and why are they calling me mom?” I look at Amy and think “who is this pre-teen girl, almost as tall as I am? I thought I had babies!”

I’ve also taken to trash talking babies about shirking responsibility… I recently made a joke while going through a checkout line about telling Claire to get a job and her not listening. I thought it was hilarious… the cashier just gave me a funny look in response.

Oh, I almost forgot… I vote for keeping the band/drama letters. Be thankful you don’t have a letterman’s jacket, because I can’t decide what to do with mine. Too nice to get rid of, too bulky to want to keep — except that it’s got my letters on it!

I was so happy you called me about our letters, Ingrid; that was a good laugh! We were silly, wonderful kids. I wonder how common such constructive friendships are, and I hope that our kids will have the luck and insight we had for finding truly good friends.

On mementos, well, Gus and I are pretty organized, but I’m sure we need to weed out some old letters and cards that don’t mean much anymore. Along with some books! I have a basket that is piled up with things I’ve haven’t looked at in at least three years.

Hey, and I’d like to see (at least a picture of) that daybed/filing/reading nook/bookshelf! I might want to make one, myself.
